Trends We Spotted From Bollywood Stars’ Ganesh Chaturthi Celebrations

Ganesh Chaturthi, the birthday of the God of auspiciousness and wisdom is being celebrated with complete zeal and enthusiasm in the Indian entertainment capital Mumbai. This festival, for years, has been known for setting new trends in the festive wear, with our Bollywood stars rocking some of the most iconic ethnic styles. And this year, too, our stunning celebs didn’t fail us. With their tasteful ensembles for ethnic Indian festive look, they have yet again set start to some of the most momentous emerging trends in festive Indian ethnic wear.

Historically considered as the ideal Indian dress for conventional familial ceremonies, Banarasi sarees are gradually being redefined as one of the most graceful attires for festive celebrations as well. In the huge Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations hosted by Neeta and Mukesh Ambani, Rekha stole the limelight with her shimmery beige and violet Banarasi saree, posing in her signature style with a namaste. And quite evidently she wasn’t the only Bollywood star to nail the perfect elegant look for the celebration with a Banarasi saree either. Mission Mangal star Vidya Balan looked absolutely ethereal in her Gorang Banarasi saree. The similar look has also been sported by Isha Koppikar in her breathtaking Banarasi drape in red and green hues.

It’s been a while since we have seen anything trending in the ear accessories area. But with this year’s Ganesha's celebration, the long wait has come to an end.

With Kajol, Madhuri Dixit, and Kriti Kharbanda sparkling in large gold danglers with intricate designs, Rekha looking timeless as ever in her dazzling pearl jhumkas and maang tikka, Alia Bhatt looking celestial with her Kundan danglers, and Katrina Kaif, Sonam Kapoor Ahluwalia, and Karishma Kapoor looking breathtaking in their Indian style jhumka earrings, we now know the trend of ultra-large earrings is all set to take the Indian ethnic fashion by storm.

Well to be fair, sparkling attires have always been considered the best for festivities. But for quite some time, we have seen more of the deep-hued attires with rather subtle embellishments gaining more momentum in the industry. However, this year, we have seen a comeback of all the glittery ethnic ensembles, bringing a fresh wave of radiance with it.

From the shimmery sarees worn by Kriti Sanon, Kajol, and Alia Bhatt to the sparkling Indian necklace sets sported by Natasha Poonawalla (a multi-chain stone-embedded gold necklace) and Ileana D'Cruz (a traditional stone-studded choker), the glittering ensembles definitely brought some more gusto to the festive celebrations.

Always considered as one of the most auspicious colors to wear on festivals, yellow made multiple appearances in this year’s celebrations. In fact, the color set the theme of Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations at Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra’s residence.

The host of the party looked gorgeous in their respective attires, Raj Kundra and Viaan in yellow kurtas, and Shilpa in brilliant yellow drape with puffy-sleeved blouse. Her guest Dia Mirza also looked divine in her yellow Anarkali with foliage green embellishments and long dupatta. Kriti Kharbanda also nailed the sunshine color in a silk saree, giving all an inspiration in festive attire with her no-fuss makeup and traditional accessories like intricate Indian earrings and a gajra adorning her neat bun.
